Kemi Winter
A winters landscape . On the edge of the Bay of Bothnia sits an industrial town called Kemi, famous for its’ ice hotel and commonly dubbed the ‘Monaco of Finland” (not sure why though..maybe in summer?) The Bay freezes over every winter and the surrounds are transformed into stunning winter landscapes no matter where you look. Much of the foreshore, is surrounded by birch trees, some sparse and some in thick forests. Not one to capture a winters landsacpe the same as everyone else, I set out to create this abstract of the thick forest of trees, the cool blues depicting winter and the lineal lines of the trunks urging you to look deeper within the landscape.
