Scale is often the starting point when selecting artwork. Pieces that are too small can feel disconnected from the room, while well-proportioned works help anchor a space visually. As a guide, artwork positioned above furniture typically works best when it spans around two-thirds of the width of the piece below it or occupies roughly 60 to 75 per cent of the available wall space.
