Ba Lolwapa

“Ba Lolwapa” means family in Botswana. While on safari in the pristine wilderness of the Okavango Delta, we frequently encountered herds of zebra tightly huddled together, with individual animals facing in completely different directions.

Our wonderful guide, Lucas, explained the beautiful meaning behind this behavior: by huddling closely and looking outward in every direction, they create a 360-degree watchtower, actively protecting each other from predators and ensuring the safety of the entire herd. From that moment on, every time we came across these striking animals, I was instantly reminded of human family—a collective unit standing side-by-side, fiercely protecting, supporting, and caring for one another. This print captures that sacred bond of unity and natural protection.
