Fallen Lady

Lady Musgrave Island is a tiny speck on the Australian Coast, nestled within the southern reaches of the Great Barrier Reef. While walking around this pristine little Coral Cay takes no time at all, you can easily spend hours watching the birdlife, meandering through the trees, and simply enjoying nature at its most untouched.

During a memorable trip where I was lucky enough to spend a few days anchored inside the island's protective turquoise lagoon, I found myself repeatedly drawn to a singular, striking feature on the shore. Every day when I walked around the island, I was completely captivated by this fallen Sheoak tree resting on the crushed coral beach.

There was something deeply captivating about Fallen Lady. I loved the way its exposed roots had become beautifully weathered by the salt and sun, contrasted against the trunk which was still resolutely reaching out for the sea. I could not resist capturing it. This raw, sculptural piece of ocean art brings the rare, sun-bleached beauty of the outer reef straight into your interior decor, offering a direct window to a slow, tranquil paradise.
